Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade

"A Campus Tradition"

All faculty, staff and students are invited to join the UCSD delegation in honoring one of the country's most prominent civil rights leaders. Participate on January 13, 2007 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in San Diego's 27th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade. This year the Grand Marshals for the MLK Jr. Parade will be UCSD's very own Chancellor Fox and Vice Chancellor Watson!

DATE: Saturday, January 13, 2007
TIME: 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
LOCATION: PETCO Park, Downtown San Diego
COST: Free

Transportation to and from the parade will be provided for all UCSD student participants and will include free t-shirts and breakfast. Shuttles to and from the Parade will meet at Sun God Parking Lot by 8:30 am. Students, please sign up at the following locations:

  1. ERC: Dean's office, Res. Life Office
  2. Revelle: Why Not Here? Lounge
  3. Marshall: Dean's office
  4. Muir: M.O.M.
  5. Sixth: Sixth College Hub (2nd Floor) and Res Life Office
  6. Warren: Student Affairs and Res. Life Offices

  8. SOLO office (3rd floor of Price Center)

For all staff, faculty or students with their own transportation, you can join the UCSD delegation by 9:15 am at the Parade Staging Area, located at Petco Park's Tailgate Park (13th St. and Imperial Ave.). Paid parking is available around Petco Park.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Event - Post Parade

LOCATION: Meet at Sun God Lawn
PROJECT: Refurbish a center for at-risk youth

March in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade downtown with UCSD and afterward participate in UCSD's 5th Annual MLK, Jr. Day of Service.

Work with San Diego Youth and Community Services and Volunteer San Diego to help refurbish a center for at-risk youth. We will be painting and building to revitalize their space, and assembling care packages for needy youth.
